And they begin to go back on the promises..

Looks like the Iraqi government just let it be known that Obama will not withdraw troops immediately. Isn’t that exactly what every conservative and Bush said was what we needed to do to win?

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The Iraqi government is confident that president-elect Barack Obama will not jeopardize Iraq’s improving security by hastily withdrawing U.S. troops, Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari said on Wednesday. Obama has “reassured us that he would not take any drastic or dramatic decisions,” Zebari told BBC television.

“He will consult with the Iraqi government and the U.S. military in the field, but believes strongly that a phased withdrawal of U.S. forces in Iraq will put more responsibility on the shoulders of the Iraqi government.” Obama opposed the U.S. war in Iraq from the beginning, and his promise to pull combat troops out of the country by mid-2010 was a cornerstone of his campaign.

I however do not recall Obama or any democrat other than Joe Lieberman, and we all know how well that worked out for him, saying anything like that before. I also recall many on the left demanding Bush pull troops out and fail in Iraq. Wonder how they will feel now that their guy seems to be agreeing with Bush. Based on what I have heard so far, especially the spin about Russian missile posturing being a test of Bush and not the newly elected president, my guess is that many of them will suddenly see the wisdom in this. This will prove that their motivations and bloviations about Iraq where all purely based on political expediency and nothing else.

Hey libs: Obama is following Bush’s lead on this. It will not be the first nor the last thing he does this on. Can’t wait to hear the spin. Yeah, I know you don’t care cause your guy won. There are many people however that need to see what you liberals are about though to awaken to the facts. And it will not be the last time Obama will be forced to do what Bush did. I am sure Bush will finally get the respect he deserves now that Obama does the same. And I think that the market made it a point to tell us all how happy they are with an Obama win. And it now also looks like the Asians are not looking forward to the new age of mercantilism Obama promised. Looks like president Obama has a hard road ahead of him. This is gonna be fun....
