And at a time we are gutting the military
We find out that the Chinese have developed a special ‘Kill Weapon’ to destroy U.S. Aircraft Carriers. The weapon gives China a huge advantage should they decide to jump Taiwan, as it can be used to keep US forces too far away to help - to avoid the loss of a carrier and other capital ships - or actually sink these ships if they do take the risk and move in to stop a full invasion.
With tensions already rising due to the Chinese navy becoming more aggressive in asserting its territorial claims in the South China Sea, the U.S. Navy seems to have yet another reason to be deeply concerned. After years of conjecture, details have begun to emerge of a “kill weapon” developed by the Chinese to target and destroy U.S. aircraft carriers. First posted on a Chinese blog viewed as credible by military analysts and then translated by the naval affairs blog Information Dissemination, a recent report provides a description of an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) that can strike carriers and other U.S. vessels at a range of 2000km. The range of the modified Dong Feng 21 missile is significant in that it covers the areas that are likely hot zones for future confrontations between U.S. and Chinese surface forces.
The size of the missile enables it to carry a warhead big enough to inflict significant damage on a large vessel, providing the Chinese the capability of destroying a U.S. supercarrier in one strike. Because the missile employs a complex guidance system, low radar signature and a maneuverability that makes its flight path unpredictable, the odds that it can evade tracking systems to reach its target are increased. It is estimated that the missile can travel at mach 10 and reach its maximum range of 2000km in less than 12 minutes. Supporting the missile is a network of satellites, radar and unmanned aerial vehicles that can locate U.S. ships and then guide the weapon, enabling it to hit moving targets.
This is some serious stuff. This weapon system basically gives the Chinese the capability to deny our Navy the ability anywhere the missile can reach. Currently that looks to be around 2000 km, which covers Taiwan, the Koreas, and even Japan. Basically at the time the Navy figures out they have a serious and real dangerous hole in their power projection capability and need to plug the gap, the Obama people are gutting our military too. This stuff is a serious threat. And the Navy seems to have realized this.

In short, the Navy needs to fill in a technological gap and look at bringing back the incredibly complex and expensive Zumwalt DDGs they just decided a while back they did not need in future conflicts, because the Chinese, despite the lack of a Navy equal to ours, have come up with an asymmetrical way to deal with our forces. As the picture here clearly shows, this new Chinese capability really puts us at a serious disadvantage and some real important and costly choices will need to be made.
These conditions raise several questions. Does the emergence of a new kill weapon demand a new discussion of fleet survivability? Should our traditional approach of developing counter-systems capabilities be the priority, for example, is AEGIS ballistic missile defense our best option for countering the capability being developed? While I think the idea of a 14,500 ton stealth warship in the littoral is hilarious (as in stupid) due to being countered by the MK 0 eyeball from the littoral population, perhaps stealth in blue water is something that needs serious discussion, after all, there are very few MK 0 eyeballs in the deep blue nowhere.
For the China specific threat, the trends in thinking suggest the solution lies in increasing the range for strike capabilities of the US Navy, the primary drivers being longer range precision missile systems with the MK57 and longer range carrier air wings with UCAVs. This does make some sense, but the question I would raise is how this is applied to the North Korea or Iran scenarios? In the case of both of those countries, the lanes of communication at sea are restricted through littoral channels and several islands extend the range of detection capabilities the enemy could field in those confined waters. That tends to support the ballistic missile defense capability.
Another suggestion often discussed is that submarines, not surface combatants, are the future because any ballistic missile system developed for offensive capabilities is specific to surface vessels. This is true, but submarines still require air cover for defense, and that air cover comes from either area air-warfare capabilities provided by surface vessels or aircraft, which may require an aircraft carrier.
In short, the Navy now needs to really rethink a lot of stuff. China can no longer be taken for granted because this weapon system basically gives them the ability to go after Taiwan, and anyone in a 2000 km radius. Move these missiles to some islands and they can block anyone from going through the China seas. This is scary stuff. And now we have people that think our defense is something stupid because spreading the wealth is more important. The Navy will need to look at adding the capability to shoot down these missiles, go after the launch facilities with efficiency and accuracy to prevent launches (which means pre-emptive strikes on Chinese soild BTW), and look at effective ways to kill China’s eyes in the sky and space to blind these missile systems. This stuff will cost money and require effort. Efforts I doubt Obama and a democratic congress feel are important. After all, these are people that have no problem stabbing their allies in the back when convenient or the burden is just too much… This is bad for us people.
UPDATE: It looks like Strategy Page doesn’t think this threat is such a bad thing. They base that on the fact the Chinese have not tested this capability yet, and that the US has the option of making several different types of modifications to existing weapon’s platforms to address the threat. All fine and well, but I should point out that, as I recall it, China already tested, and did so successfully, a warhead vehicle kill of a satellite recently. That’s the same kind of technology and precision work as what would be needed to guide a warhead to a carrier or other large naval target. The rest is semantics really. My point that the US Navy will also have to deal with this new threat at a time the military budget is being gutted, still stands too. All in all, this is still something to worry about. How fast we neutralize it is critical to keeping the Chinese from getting adventurous. Especially if the world’s, and more importantly, the Chinese, economy implodes and the leaders need something to prop up moral at home. Like Invading Taiwan.

Wishful thinking?
The Obama are no longer calling the Global War on Terror “The Global War on Terror. Are they hoping that if they do not call it that it will suddenly go away? I think the Jihadis are not going to suddenly stop their quest to Islamify the planet and kill all that stand in the way or reject their rule, but I am not a liberal elite that lives in Fantasy Land. Breibart thinks that the reason they have dropped the name is:
The term was a rallying cry for President George Bush after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. But the use of the term “global war on terror” is widely disliked overseas.
Ah yeah, good old BDS. It was what Bush called it and that makes it wrong. of course there could be a different angle. Maybe it is because calling terrorist enabling countries and governments out and fighting them angers them. Just like collectivists hate being called collectivist twits. In the mean time when asked, Hillary, whom Rush Libaugh correctly says is twice the man Obama is, said:
She said the absence of the “war on terror” language speaks for itself. Pundits have noted the absence, but top administration figures have had little to say on the subject.
Again. The left’s idea before 9-11 was to ignore it and use lawyers to deal with it after people got killed. Then we had 9-11 and 3000 people lost their lives, proving that waiting until after the fact was the hight of stupidity. Now the Obama crew are going back to that same old failed idea - like they are doing with big government and this collectivist take over of our economy - and expecting a different result! The lunatics are running the asylum, I swear. I am sad to say we will need another attack, and they are sure to expedite one by not fighting the bad guys, to shake people back into reality. At least they have plans on how to help the cry babies.

We are screwed..
While our new collectivist elite government sticks it to private industry and demands frugality, restraint, and sacrifice, they themselves are spending lavishly. Oh, I am not talking about the trillions in newly printed money they are steering to their old and future donors, operatives, and lobbyists, but this lavish trip for 500 too Europe.
With an entourage of 500 staff, an armour-plated limousine and a fleet of decoy helicopters, America’s new president will arrive for his first visit to Britain amid huge razzmatazz on Tuesday for the G20 summit. But it will be his closed-door meetings with world leaders that are likely to prove the most significant of the trip
WTF? 500 staff? Are these Secret Service people to protect the so widely loved Messiah? My bet is these are all lib elitists living large at the tax payer’s expense as usual. The irony of this take over where these elitists tell others how to behave and then do exactly the opposite themselves, is just too much. And what gives with the following?
US security teams have already carried out three visits to prepare for Obama’s first official visit to Britain. The first was a “site survey”, the second a “pre-advance visit” which was carried out to pick sites that the president would visit. Finally there was the “advance trip”, which took place last week. Its purpose was to set up equipment, sweep venues for electronic bugs, test food for poison and measure air quality for bacteria.
I mean, where we not told that if this guy was elected America would be loved once more? Why the need for such strict and far reaching security for a guy that is supposed to unite the world? Especially in a collectivist paradise like Great Britain, where his ideas are not just welcomed, but mirrored? Is there something I missed?
While in town, the president will be guarded by more than 200 US secret servicemen - easily identifiable by their shirt-cuff radios and Ray-Ban sunglasses. Obama has already had some time to get used their attention. It was decided 18 months ago, when he was still a presidential candidate, that his African-American background put him at particular risk of an assassination attempt and he was provided with his security guards.
I guess that answers my above question about Secret Service people. Only 200 of those. The rest are moochers it looks like. But wait! We are told that these moochers are here with an agenda!
Indeed, despite all the heat and fury over this week’s G20, the most important work might actually emerge from the meetings that Obama and his team have scheduled on the side, far away from the debate over the economic crisis. In effect, if the G20 were a party with a guest list, then Obama’s series of mini-summits would be a VIP room; open only to a select few powerful players and conducted firmly behind closed doors.
Ah yes, secret meetings! Remember how this stuff was signs of fascism and Hitler-like behavior when done by Bush? Of course when the Bush Admin people did this it was actually about foreign policy and protecting American lives, something the MSM never pointed out, but my bet is that Obama’s people will not be doing much of that. After all, they have basically renamed the GWoT and thus made it go away. Islamist fundamental nut jobs, now confused by the name change, will stop their atrocities and reverse their murder and subjugation campaign! Why didn’t Bush see the magic of this elegant and simple solution! Anyway, back to reality. These secret meetings are very likely these DC elitist collectivists selling away more American sovereignty and working with the UN and other collectivists to establish that one world government. These tools will talk to representatives of some of the worlds vilest and most oppressive governments and offer to grab their ankles in return for empty promises. Of course they will tout this shit as great diplomacy and a victory for peace. And that will last until we find out the other side hosed us as usual. Of course that will not be reported, or lies will be told to avoid the obvious fact this shit never works.
My guess is that the MMGW bull will be front and center. They will also beg China not to go after Taiwan and then promise not to really do anything if they do anyway. They will probably have people lining up to kiss Putin, Chavez, Ahmedinajahd, and Castro’s arses, just to name a few as well. In general the US will lose out as the agenda will be to promote more collectivism. And that stuff always harms America. Strange and dnagerous times. And we get to pay for them to sell us out too! How wonderful…

Germany halts the collectivist take over of global economy
Would anyone ever have thought that it would be Germany’s leadershp, remember that the germans are hard core socialists these days, that would bring a world colelctivist take over to a halt? This is what you would have expected the US to do. Instead we have the US and te Brits leading a global collectivist effort. We have fallen, and we should be ashamed. Thanks Angela Merkel for putting a stop to this disaster in the make!.

What happened?
Did the left and the MSM not tell us that we had to elect Obama to undo the massive damage done by Bush and get the wolrd to finally love us again? Well we elected the Messiah, but it looks like even more people hate or are taking advantage of us. I am sure the NYT did not do this intentionally. Likely their objective was to help Obama by saying the fault lies elsewhere (funny how according to the oracles in the MSM republicans make people hate us ,but in the case of democrats they are the ones at fault for hating us, huh?), but they also exposed their old idiotic lie that democrats get people to like us. In fact the only people that like democrats in charge are despots. And that’s because they know democrats are idiots and cowards willing to grab their ankles in the hopes of appeasing the bully.
These people have told us that if they where elected the world would become a peaceful place. And yet, for those that look for the facts, the information is out there that we live in a dangerous world. In fact, the democrat’s foreign policy strategy seems to be to screw over all our traditional allies. From Tiawan to Korea. From the former Eastern Block members now threatened by Russia to our South American allies. We will pay for these people’s fantasies and delushions. Man are we hosed.

All that indoctrination & lying and you still not making headway?
The left has controlled education and has been hard at work both indoctrinating the young and lying about the past for decades now. Many are actively looking for example to make Ronal Reagan a failure thorough an orchestrated campaign of lies. Kind of like they very successfully did with Bush. But despite all this effort, the collectivists have still not been able to convince enough people that what works, doesn’t work. Basically most people have figured out that tax breaks leave more money in the hands of private entities that are much better at spending it in ways that not only improves their lot, but improves everyone’s lot, as the economy grows. The ideologues in Washington continue to drag us all down this road where they print new money in the trillions and then expect to tax people to make it up. The obvious reason for this is not that they think it will improve the economy, the lefty elite could give a rats ass about normal people despite their lies to the contrary, but that it will increase both the power of government and their personal hold on power.
But Congress is realizing that public opinion is turning against them now, and suddenly they want to reign in Obama. This is all funny to me because Congress was the originator of that trillion dollar patronage bill that was masquerading as a stimulus bill. Maybe these democrats are realizing that their blatant and bold attempt to grab all power has angered so many people that the coming 2010 election will clean them out of Congress, and they are playing damage control. Of course the intent is to create the illusion of concern and action, and hopefully the ability to deflect blame, because they all love what is going on. We need to be really worried when our current debt level is so high that we could not join the EU! Heck Eastern block nations that had been savaged by 5 decades plus of Soviet occupation and economic rape made it into the EU! We are heading in the wrong direction fast, and people are noticing that finally. Hope & Change indeed!

Global waming scammers admit their goal is world government…
Hah! Anyone still doubt that the entire climate change scam isn’t a push by a the various collectivist movements for a one world government and their social justice agenda should have a look at what the UN is planning. Have a look:
A United Nations document on “climate change” that will be distributed to a major environmental conclave next week envisions a huge reordering of the world economy, likely involving trillions of dollars in wealth transfer, millions of job losses and gains, new taxes, industrial relocations, new tariffs and subsidies, and complicated payments for greenhouse gas abatement schemes and carbon taxes — all under the supervision of the world body.
Those and other results are blandly discussed in a discretely worded United Nations “information note” on potential consequences of the measures that industrialized countries will likely have to take to implement the Copenhagen Accord, the successor to the Kyoto Treaty, after it is negotiated and signed by December 2009. The Obama administration has said it supports the treaty process if, in the words of a U.S. State Department spokesman, it can come up with an “effective framework” for dealing with global warming.
The 16-page note, obtained by FOX News, will be distributed to participants at a mammoth negotiating session that starts on March 29 in Bonn, Germany, the first of three sessions intended to hammer out the actual commitments involved in the new deal. In the stultifying language that is normal for important U.N. conclaves, the negotiators are known as the “Ad Hoc Working Group On Further Commitments For Annex I Parties Under the Kyoto Protocol.” Yet the consequences of their negotiations, if enacted, would be nothing short of world-changing.
Get that? Man is responsible for climate change that will destroy the world, and the only way to avoid or fix that is not to come up with engineering and technical innovations that avert the problem, but with a massive scam to generate social justice. This is akin to your doctor telling you that you that in lieu of medical treatment to stop it, you need to give up all your wealth to homeless people and prison inmates, because are dying from cancer. It is not only idiotic, but is clear evidence that these people are lying and manipulating us all. Of course, we just put the party that wants to go along with the evil bastards perpetrating this scam, well it is worse than that, since most of these democrats actually also are pushing this agenda on their own, in power. Party of the people indeed. Just not the American people it looks like.

The end game…
Anyone that doubted that the final destination of any health plan proposed by democrats would be government control of healthcare, should no longer do so. Oh sure, now they say that it is only supposed to “compete” with private healthcare systems. Have a look:
March 26 (Bloomberg)—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House this year will consider health-care legislation including an option for a government-run program that would compete with insurers. “This is a big agenda, and I believe it should have a public option in it for it to be really substantial,” Pelosi told reporters at her weekly news conference in the U.S. Capitol.
President Barack Obama has said he wants Congress to produce legislation that would expand health-care coverage for the country’s 46 million uninsured and reduce medical costs. Republicans and some insurers have opposed the creation of a new program modeled on Medicare as part of the effort. The top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa, last week called the idea a “deal-breaker.”
The thing is that one needs to remember that these democrats feel no compunction in violating the constitution and usurping powers of office they are not granted. Exhibit A. is the AIG bonus fiasco. Exhibit B., and so on, is the current attempt to allow government complete control of both the banking industry - both those that took TARP or other moneys and those that did not - as well as the entire financial industry under the auspice that it is being done to make sure greedy corps do not do bad things. Of course, the fact that the current meltdown is the fault of government, the very people that are responsible for the economic disasters we are facing because of the ridiculous and idiotic regulations that forced banks to loan to high risk entities & people as well as created that whole credit default swap business scam, is never discussed. Why in heaven’s name are we letting the fox fix the mess it made in the hen house in the first place?
Anyway, does anyone want to make the case that these people would not lose any sleep using their legislative powers to make it impossible for private insurers to ever “compete” with them, and hence, have government take over healthcare? Before you answer this, understand the fact that the main function of these politicians has been to help those interests that hand them big money through laws that squashed competition of any kind instead of helping the people. Want proof? Have a look at how much money these big financial institutions now getting bail out and stimulus money are raking in and compare it to the “donations” they made to the democrats during the last election cycle. The payouts are orders of magnitude larger. In fact, the sad truth is that the biggest way for businesses, especially those that are referred to as “too big to fail”, can make money is not to invest in infrastructure, growth or, modernization, but to buy political support.
Once government regulates away competition and owns healthcare, they own the people that have no choices. If you want to continue the illusion of free healthcare, even the mediocre and disastrous crap it will have to turn into when run by the same kind of idiots that run our other government agencies like the DMV, you will have to keep these democrats in power. If you ever experienced the pain of a HMO, get ready for that on steroids. Incredibly limited choices, poor quality, long wait times, and a ton of denials. But the politicians, and most of the elites that are dumb enough to think they will get an exception, do not care because they have their own plan. It’s not about helping anyone but holding on to power. And that’s the real reason they are pushing for this. Not because they care about the poor, but because they care about making sure they have an iron, and permanent, grip on power. Shame on the idiots that think otherwise.

America being done a disservice by MSM..
Had to link this incredibly important article over at American Thinker discussing the MSM because it hits the nail on the head. Many conservatives like myself are tired of playing nice. Democrats play to win. They consider us the enemy and treat us as such. Conservatives on the other hand seem hell bent to lose this fight because they refuse to recognize that this is war and the other side fights for keeps. We have tried being nice, that was what Bush and “compassionate conservatism” was all about, and look what it got Bush, or us. The fact is that the left uses the MSM to carry their message and twist anything we say or do. We need to face that fact and deal with it. Here is the money quote from David G. Muller, Jr.’s article:
Conservative exasperation with media bias is a tired refrain, a waste of energy. Complaints of bias start from the premise that press coverage ought to be fair and objective. But is this the premise on which today’s mainstream media is based? It’s not. The premise that now guides the mainstream media is something we haven’t seen before in this country - thus the never-ending consternation of conservatives at the blatant bias of the media and the nonchalance of its practitioners when caught in the act. We have seen press behavior like this before, though - not here, but in China and the Soviet Union during their classical Leninist eras.
When studying Chinese and Soviet politics back in the 1960s and 70s, I lived on a constant diet of the People’s Daily, Pravda, and their companion publications. It was clear from the first day that the press in Communist China and the Soviet Union was fundamentally different from ours. It had a different purpose, a different relationship not only to the political power structure, but to the truth itself. Railing at Chinese or Soviet media bias the way that today’s conservatives whine about ABC or the New York Times would have been foolish. Instead, it was necessary to understand the assumptions and objectives that underlay media that was under Leninist control. How did they see their role in society? What did they see as proper and improper practice?
There are rules about how a Leninist press works - its operational code. When reading People’s Daily and Pravda with these rules in mind, the controlled press made perfect sense. What’s the point here? Troublingly, these same rules fit today’s American mainstream media - and the media’s relationship to the Democratic Party - nearly to a T.
And there you have it. Today’s MSM is doing what the media in the old USSR and in China did for the political establishment: it filtered the message in favor of the party. In this case the party that our MSM is working for is the democratic party. Democrats will tell blatant and obvious lies, and not only will they not be challenged or ignored, but are quoted verbatim in the MSM. Whatever conservatives say however is always twisted to allow it to be presented in the worst possible light, and with commentary to make sure it is negative.
When we look through this Leninist prism, the behavior of today’s American mainstream media becomes quite comprehensible. Where conservatives see dishonesty, double standards, and deception, media practitioners see themselves as fulfilling their role in consolidating Party power in pursuit of a socialist utopia. They have fundamentally different ideas of the media’s role in society.
And there you have it. We need to treat the media like the enemy. Expect that they will obfuscate and even twist anything we say. All while helping the democrats and their agenda. A big challenge, but if we continue our current strategy of trying to play nice and hope we get even a little break, we are going to lose. The way Bush was treated, the democrats taking congress in 2006, Obama’s election, and the fact that Obama is getting a pass, even though it is obvious he and his administration are either purposefully destroying our country or have no clue what they are doing, is proof of that.
Democrats have been explicit about plans to revive the Fairness Doctrine, whose implicit goal is to drive conservatives off the talk-radio airwaves. There is no reason to think that a new Fairness Doctrine would not also be festooned with prohibitions against public “hate speech,” defined as anything critical of the Left’s political program or personalities. Hate speech prohibitions could also be extended to the Internet, targeting conservative opinion sites and blogs. A compliant Supreme Court is only an appointment or two away.
It explains why this “fairness doctrine” is so important to the left. They need to shut down any and all other outlets that counter their effort to control what passes for news. Buyer beware, and conservatives better step up and start swinging at the fences, or else. We need to stop trying to watch what we say and to act like pansies for fear the MSM will screw us. They will screw us over regardless. Start from there, assume they are the enemy and part of the DNC, treat them as such, and work from there. Many people are starting to see the bias and wonder about it. Hammer that home. Shame & ridicule them. Point out their bias and lies. Do we want to let the left define what we stand for and believe, or do we want to do so and communicate that to people?

Hah. It should come as no surprise that another democrat, in this case Rham Emanuel, made a ton of money doing nothing of value as he took advantage of the democrat’s scam related to mortgage lending and their securities. I wonder if he paid hsi taxes on that. After all, taxes are for the little people, not the elite. Check this out:
Before its portfolio of bad loans helped trigger the current housing crisis, mortgage giant Freddie Mac was the focus of a major accounting scandal that led to a management shake-up, huge fines and scalding condemnation of passive directors by a top federal regulator. One of those allegedly asleep-at-the-switch board members was Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel—now chief of staff to President Barack Obama—who made at least $320,000 for a 14-month stint at Freddie Mac that required little effort.
As gatekeeper to Obama, Emanuel now plays a critical role in addressing the nation’s mortgage woes and fulfilling the administration’s pledge to impose responsibility on the financial world. Emanuel’s Freddie Mac involvement has been a prominent point on his political résumé, and his healthy payday from the firm has been no secret either. What is less known, however, is how little he apparently did for his money and how he benefited from the kind of cozy ties between Washington and Wall Street that have fueled the nation’s current economic mess.
Well blow me down. We put another one of the people responsible for the mess we are in, and another one that profited quite well, in charge of cleaning up the mess. Call me stupid for thinking only a lunatic would put the fox that was raiding his hen house in charge of fixing the panic and damage that caused.

Oh oh
Well after hearing this comment by Geithner, I think we all need to be worried. Basically Geithner is saying that the Obama administration thinks it is just fine that we drop the dollar for some concocted currency that shifts the world’s economic ties with the dollar. I guess this fits in well with the agenda to sell or subjugate the US to the international community and make it a third rate country. It also fits in well with the agenda of borrowing all the cash they want, allowing the dollar to depreciate and cause massive inflation like that seen in third world hell-holes like Zimbabwe, and basically subjugating us all to a permanent collectivist government. For Christ’s sake even the EU socialists are saying hell no to the Obama stimulus strategy! Think I am kidding? Well, the plan is to “fix” the system, but the only problem is that we have been told that the fix is to give government massive and total control of the economy and every aspect of our lives. We needs someone here in the US to tell these damned destroyers to bugger off already. Soon we will have a replay of Mugabe’s Zimbabwe here in the US too.
Man we are so doomed…
UPDATE: Looks like the PC faction of the EU, the ones that agree with the sentiment but want to pretend they do not believe that Obama is a disaster and dragging the Western world’s economies into hell, are now doing damage control. The fact remains that they feel Obama and the direction his administration has taken is a clear and present danger. They just do not want to say so for fear of alienating Obama and getting attacked by his crowd of image control apparatchiks. Here is the important part out of that article”

Call me crazy, but I prefer the latter. Especially when it is true. But hey, we live in a PC world, so now what we have is damage control. Fairness doctrine at work..
The left has been pushing real hard to bring back that absolutely disgusting partisan propaganda control agent they label as the “Fairness Doctrine”, a way to muzzle conservative opinion and information from getting to the people really, and we all need to be vigilant to make sure they do not get away with it. Meanwhile, desperate democrats are proposing the use of tax payer money to keep their propaganda machines alive. They want, nay they need, to help keep these failed propaganda outlets that can not cut it in the real world in business.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With many U.S. newspapers struggling to survive, a Democratic senator on Tuesday introduced a bill to help them by allowing newspaper companies to restructure as nonprofits with a variety of tax breaks. “This may not be the optimal choice for some major newspapers or corporate media chains but it should be an option for many newspapers that are struggling to stay afloat,” said Senator Benjamin Cardin. A Cardin spokesman said the bill had yet to attract any co-sponsors, but had sparked plenty of interest within the media, which has seen plunging revenues and many journalist layoffs. Cardin’s Newspaper Revitalization Act would allow newspapers to operate as nonprofits for educational purposes under the U.S. tax code, giving them a similar status to public broadcasting companies.
Get that? The print media has lost ground because of technological advances, but in my opinion the real nail in the coffin has always been the hidden or blatant bias. I refuse to pay for any media that is blatantly pushing the leftist agenda while claiming neutrality, and my bet is that many others feel the same way. I also prefer to look stuff up on the internet when it is free. I would, and do pay, for media that is clear about their slant however if there is quality. The problem is that the leftists crap doesn’t cut it. And that’s why these democrats are coming to the rescue: they are going to lose what they feel are valuable re-education tools.

Need more proof we are headed in the wrong direction?
If you are wondering if we are getting any change from the current leadership, don’t do so anymore. It now is clear that the biggest buyer of our debt obligations, China, has had enough of our current government’s spending plans, and is making moves to protect itself from the fall out of our current fiscal policy. They are not alone. The Russians are saying the same. So is the EU. That’s basically the bulk of the big players. And they are doing that because they all believe that what the current US leadership is doing will not only have disastrous consequences for America, but for them too. They are sending DC a message at a minimum, and the message is you are endangering the world economy.
Can’t say I blame them. We now have the third of these trillion dollar give aways on the way, and frankly when they are followed by stuff like this, it should send shivers down anyone financially tied to the US economy right now. Wall Street seemed to like this cash boon, guess even they are now socialists that like the idea of taking other people’s money to pay for their mistakes, but is this sustainable, and what happens later? In the mean time the MSM and democrats have masterfully kept the people focused on meaningless stuff like this in the grand scheme of things. In the mean time, the real authors of this crisis get away with murder, while pointing their fingers and demanding to be allowed to “fix the mess”. Never mind that that the two most vocal people, Franks & Dodd, are behind our economic collapse in the first place. We are also seeing an increase in the price of oil and while the article claims it is because some see economic recovery, my guess is that it is more inflation than anything else.
And while this article deals with the luddites in England, this is a common socialist belief: cull the masses. Soon we will be looking at getting rid of the elderly and those that do things the majority of collectivists disapprove of. Dark times are coming. And the emperor is fiddling while we are starting to burn.

I know this is childish, but I have to point out I warned that these democrats where lying about their ability to be fiscally disciplined, predicted they would do much worse, and I am right. Heck, My bet is that these numbers are actually optimistic, and that it will be much worse!

Perspective
Take a gander over yonder, and have a look at what a trillion dollars looks like. Last I saw this current administration has already put up 3 trillion more dollars of spending and is looking at a total of $10 trillion over all, according to the powers that be. Practically all of this cash comes from borrowing, playing loose and fast with numbers to show some savings where there too often was really none, a dangerous decrease in our defense and intelligence spending, and of course the latest fad: robbing the productive through confiscatory taxation. Especially those that made the American dream come true. After all, they are going to spread the wealth they told us. Of course the bulk of the cash will be borrowed. The next few generations can pay for that largess. We are so hosed....
