Why the economy will not get better anytime soon
The obvious reasons are simply that as this article points out, Obama has declared war on investments. There where a ton of Wall Street types, and an even larger number of businesses that figured they could make a lot of cash kissing the democrat’s asses, that are now realizing there is not going to be any reach arounds for them. Have to say “I told you so”. I saw Obama as a dangerous collectivist. Once I saw the economy start going south, and I did not see the democrats changing strategy even a bit, I knew we where heading for a calamity. Anyway, the article points out:
Let me be very clear on the economics of President Obama’s State of the Union speech and his budget. He is declaring war on investors, entrepreneurs, small businesses, large corporations, and private-equity and venture-capital funds. That is the meaning of his anti-growth tax-hike proposals, which make absolutely no sense at all — either for this recession or from the standpoint of expanding our economy’s long-run potential to grow.
Raising the marginal tax rate on successful earners, capital, dividends, and all the private funds is a function of Obama’s left-wing social vision, and a repudiation of his economic-recovery statements. Ditto for his sweeping government-planning-and-spending program, which will wind up raising federal outlays as a share of GDP to at least 30 percent, if not more, over the next 10 years.
This is nearly double the government-spending low-point reached during the late 1990s by the Gingrich Congress and the Clinton administration. While not quite as high as spending levels in Western Europe, we regrettably will be gaining on this statist-planning approach. Study after study over the past several decades has shown how countries that spend more produce less, while nations that tax less produce more. Obama is doing it wrong on both counts.
And we the American people will pay for this. Frankly I am now thinking that it is a lot more than ideological collectivist blindness on the democrat’s part. They have a complicit media that will continue to blame Bush and tell people to give the democrats a chance. This crisis, of their own making mind you (Barney Franks & Dodd are behind the Freddie & Fannie collapse, and our economy is in the shit because of that), has allowed them to push more disastrous and unbelievably destructive collectivist spending (for their power grab) than they have done since the FDR days, and they have realized they can use it to push even more stuff nobody would have otherwise accepted. All they have to do is claim it will help the economy and the poor. Who cares if that’s all lies. By the time we all figure out they have recreated Cuba in the US, none of us will be able to do anything about it. Think I am kidding? Have look at which people are the ones defending these Obama policies the loudest. Accusing anyone that points out the reality of being motivated by either racism or greed. To shut them up, of course. They tend to be extreme left wing ideologues that think places like Cuba and Venezuela, heck even the USSR or Mao’s China, are better than the US. They are also te people that where the loudest at denouncing Bush and his administration as fascists. The irony of the fascist power grab we are getting from their guy never registering, or worse, simply being ignored because he is one of them. Those are the people liking what is going on these days.
I get little consolation that so many idiots that got caught up in the Obama lies now will suffer just as hard as I will have to. Especially the real wealthy ones that steered all that cash his way, often illegally, in the hopes he would help them line their pockets. Remember, democrats scream the loudest about the evils of greedy corporations, blame their opponents for being in bed with them, and yet, democrats seem to be the ones getting the largest amounts of cash from them, as well as the ones constantly passing laws favoring certain corporations (the ones giving them cash or belonging to their buddies) over the little people.
Noteworthy up here on Wall Street, a great many Obama supporters — especially hedge-fund types who voted for “change” — are becoming disillusioned with the performances of Obama and Treasury man Geithner. There is a growing sense of buyer’s remorse. Well then, do conservatives dare say: We told you so?
The problem is that “We told you so”, is not going to help us at all right now. Now investment growth, means no investments. That means no economic recovery, and definitely no new jobs. Guess this is what Obama hopes will allow him to create that massive “core of volunteers” he was talking about. These volunteers will be provided with government housing and food, and be farmed out to do the government’s work. Like monitor which citizens are not complying with the things the government has told everyone they must do for example. We are so hosed.

Liberal Buyer’s Remorse…

America the broke
Remember how democrats told us that Bush was a moron for spending so much money - and some people like me pointed out he was spending just like democrats would - and blame our economy going south on that (instead of their real actions)? Well now they have a solution! No really, they do. They plan to spend $1.75 trillion dollars, which will cause a massive jump in our deficit spending, drastically increase our debt, and do nothing but help buy democrats the next election! I guess the problem with the spending during the Bush years was that we didn’t do enough of that. So now we will be straddled with a debt of $11,833 per American, and really if you break it down right based on who will pay, $25,573.48 per tax payer! I guess this was one giant joke. And he plans to raise $1 trillion in new taxes. Of course from the very people that invest their money and create jobs. And we keep getting told this guy is the second coming, a brilliant politician, a genius. Me I will agree with Dick Morris, and I do not do so often, that a big chunk of this crisis is Obama’s fault. And some people are pointing out how screwed we really are. At least republicans are finally acting like republicans. Better late then never, I guess. There is no denying it: Obama has brought us back to big government. Get ready for another Carter disaster. Of course the idiot collectivists will tell you it is all Bush’s fault, and them doing this is good for us… Woe America.

Here is why there will be no economic recovery
It looks like the democrats are going to make sure that there will be no chance for any kind of an economic recovery:
President Obama is putting the finishing touches on an ambitious first budget that seeks to cut the federal deficit in half over the next four years, primarily by raising taxes on business and the wealthy and by slashing spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, administration officials said.
In addition to tackling a deficit swollen by the $787 billion stimulus package and other efforts to ease the nation’s economic crisis, the budget blueprint will press aggressively for progress on the domestic agenda Obama outlined during the presidential campaign. This would include key changes to environmental policies and a major expansion of health coverage that Obama hopes to enact later this year.
Not only are we going to create massive inflation for you by borrowing a ton of money to buy votes with, but we will make sure the people that actually provide capital for economic growth do nothing of the sort. Brilliant strategy, because ultimately the plan is not about fixing the economy, but about getting government in charge of everything. Nothing guarantees you re-election like a ton of voters that depend on your handouts for their existence. Welcome to collectivist mediocrity! We are hosed. Of course these democrat elites will not be paying any taxes anyway.

Futures not liking democrats or Obama
If you need any indication that there is no confidence in what the democrats in Congress and Obama are doing just take a look at how the stock market has reacted the last month or so. That trend is based on the confidence that investors, you know the people that have the money that lets companies grow and hire new people, have in what democrats are saying they plan to do to the economy. Can’t say I am surprised however. Collectivism on the scale that Congress and Obama are pushing through means little to no income to anyone but the few corporations that big government chooses to favor. Hence the retreat by most others. If anything, after that massive borrowing for the patronage bill, the people that understand money are saying that things are going to get worse, not better. I guess everyone that missed them is going to get to see the Carter years replayed. And those of us that went through that, are going to get an encore. The one good thing I can hope for is that after 4 years of Carter’s Americans soured on collectivism for a good 3 decades. We might get lucky again. That is if there is a country left after these people get done with it.

No longer a bad thing, huh?
It looks like the Obama administration plans to do the exact same things that the Bush Administration did: hold terrorists indefinitely as military prisoners. Holder so much as echoed the Bush Administrations’ claim that they plan to go after terrorists and terror enablers in the GWoT - yeah, you heard that right: Obama’s people finally believe we are at war with terrorists and that this is serious, of course it is funny to note this now that Bush no longer is the CinC, and want to treat it like a war - and to hold them indefinitely. To all the collectivist twits that have been telling us Bush and his people should be prosecuted and put in jail for war crimes, of course while also arguing that the GWoT was not a real war, what are you going to do? If you really where being honest you would now turn on Obama and his people, and demand they join Bush and his people as defendants at those trials you want. What I expect you to do is to pretend this is not happening until, like a master must do with a PITA dog that goes where ever it pleases, you get your nose rubbed into it. Then you will spin this, twist words (what’s the meaning of “is” anyone?), and then, with a straight face and conviction, claim Obama & his people are not doing what Bush and his people did. Finally, when you have no where else to go, you will suddenly see the light and start defending it. Of course, you will also still hold the position that Bush and his people are still wrong, while Obama and his administration are not. When this psychosis is pointed out to you, you will make excuses and likely resort to calling those that have the temerity of pointing out your hypocrisy racists in the hope they shut up.

Rats and their sinking ship.
It looks like the democrats are going to make semi-conservative republicans look awesome again in record time. Your average collectivist is telling everybody that they will now never relinquish their grip on government again, but the democrat party is doing everything it can to show the American people their true colors. They promised ethics - Change and Hope! - and are delivering slime at a new low. So low in fact that it has been but a month and people are already wondering how much worse it can get. People are taking one look at the run away train, and figuring they need to hide their money (and you got to wonder how many of these people are democrats that tell the rest of us we need to pay even more taxes! Even the traditional MSM retreads are now revolting against the massive collectivist takeover and the damage it portends and admitting the double standard. Those of us that did everything right – we did not buy a bigger house than we could afford, did not get a mortgage we knew we could not pay, did not use up 125% of the equity value of our property, and did not in general do the stupid things that as a consequence lead to bankruptcy and foreclosure – are now going to end up ponying up the cash that the new home aid program in the patronage bill masquerading as a stimulus will fork out to reward the people making all the bad choices. People are wondering if the crew manning the White House now are just winging it. My guess is that this question is being generous and not pointing out that they have not got a clue what they are doing, other than spreading the power of collectivist government as far as possible, that is. That massive patronage bill is already making inflation show its ugly face. And you can bet that our stock market keeps losing big because they are realizing the people in the WH have no clue and that patronage bill is a recipe for a recession.
We are even hearing of real cases, unlike the always unsubstantiated claims of fascist America during the Bush years, of people being targeted for anti-Obama displays. At least one of the architects of the banking disaster that caused our current economic collapse, is on the hot seat. It looks like he might even lose the next election up here in secure Blue State Connecticut! And the list goes on, and on. And for every story like this one that you hear about, my bet is that there are 10 more the MSM is not reporting on because the perps are democrats. Especially after fascist moves like this blog article discussing the provision to allow a board led by an Obama appointee have the authority to direct, redirect, or close down any investigations and/or audits the WH might like or dislike. But as we can see over at Mudville Gazette, Obama might soon be looking at charges of committing war crimes himself. Wonder how the left will feel now that it is their guy that the usual America haters want to hang.
And the funny thing is that they have had the WH for less than a month, have a fawning media that helps cover for them whenever possible, and they keep telling us that only they can fix things. How bad do you think this will be 6 months from now? Unless you are one of the kool-aid drinkers you can’t honestly say that these people are going to get better at this. Blame Bush! Except, he is gone now and that’s getting very old…

This is how this patronage bill pretending to be a stimulus bill will work.
I am being serious here. Basically the solution pursued by democrats and Obama is outlined in this article:
In three months since Election Day, at least a half-dozen prominent journalists have taken jobs working for the federal government. Journalists, including some of those who’ve jumped ship, say it’s better to have a solid job in government than a shaky job — or none at all — in an industry that’s fading fast.
So people are going to give up jobs where they barely do work attacking our government when they have an (R) next to their name, and kissing government ass when it is a (D), for one where they directly work for government doing even less? This is our stimulus bill at work? Guess whom these people will have to vote for to keep those cushy jobs? I wonder how many of these reporters figure out that their old jobs vanished because of the ideological bend in the MSM and the actions and antics by the current group of inexperienced collectivists in charge.

There will be neither a stimulus nor a recovery..
I am serious about this. The main problem with our economy right now is the credit crunch. Banks are failing and unable to loan money because they where bullied by leftists in government to loan money to high risk people that then did not pay back and left them in a bind. PC ideology is behind this mess. Once banks stopped loaning and started imploding, the economy tumbled and fell. To get it going again we need to stop the underlying problem. So what are the politicians saying? Well the collectivists tat caused this crisis are demanding even more of the same idiocy that caused the crunch:
On Wednesday, Mr Obama will travel to Phoenix, Arizona - hard hit by the recession - to detail his $50 billion scheme to prevent mortgage foreclosures. His aides brought the trip forward after Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner unsteady performance in publicising details of Mr Obama’s bank bailout programme caused the stock market to plunge. Mr Geithner failed to provide the promised details on either the foreclosure plans or his latest bank rescue operation.
Barney Frank, the Democratic chairman of the House Finance Committee, said Mr Geithner should not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessor Hank Paulson, who “lost sight of the rest of the country and pissed them off entirely,” with his initial bank bailout. He Frank warned the Treasury Secretary that voters want to see fewer foreclosures and more bank lending to ordinary consumers before they support the rest of the financial rescue plan. “They understand the political need,” Mr Frank said.
The plan will help distressed homeowners get modified loans, subsidising lenders who cut interest rates. Mr Frank said the plan would aim ensure that such householders need pay no more than 31 per cent of their income on their mortgage. Insiders say Mr Obama’s aides have decided to put aside his assiduous courting of Republican congressmen for an intensive campaign to win over public opinion directly. Their strategy is to resurrect public confidence in his ambitious reform programme without which he will find it impossible to tackle major projects like healthcare reform.
So what’s government’s solution to the very crisis they caused? To use tax payer’s money to pay to continue the bad practice that led to the crunch. Franks, the main archtect of the Freddie & Fannie insolvency fiasco, has the temerity to make it look like the fix for the problem is more of the same idiocy that caused the problem. I am sure voters would also like some hookers, Ferraris, yachts, and maybe their own private airplanes. Franks gonna give them that too at my expense?
Basically those of us that did the right thing - did not borrow more than we could and then lived frugally and within our means - are the ones that will get shafted to buy democrats more votes. Collectivists are again rewarding bad behavior, their voter base, and punishing those that do the right thing (which incidentally also are those most likely to vote against them). But hey, play on the right prejudices and jealousy and you can completely shift the focus from the real issues.
A Democratic strategist close to Mr Obama’s team said: “There is no money left and people don’t like how it’s been spent so far, on bankers and bonuses. Obama’s team are having to adjust their plans. Public support is the key if he wants to pass anything else anytime soon.”
Except that these big wig executives are all donors to the DNC and in bed with the democrats. When you are worth more than $20 million you tend to be a democrat. They are the politicians that are the easiest to buy. Look at the Fannie & Freddie mess for proof. But the masses are not bright enough to see through this ruse. Invoke the class envy argument and they are hooked and yours to push around. In the mean time Franks gets to demand we make him the hero instead of the villain that he is. As long as we let the bad guys keep doing what they did to cause this economic crisis in the first place, we are not going to get any economic improvements. In fact, we are going to see things get worse. But then again, when things are bad these collectivists are able to use that to push through things they would normally never be able to do. Like that patronage bill masquerading as stimulus bill.

Too little, too late…
It seems people are now realizing all the patronage in this monster bill Congress just used to rape the working American with is going to do more damage than good. Case in point the return of stay-at-home welfare. We are now going back to the days that democrats bought votes with welfare checks. The monster $ 787 billion patronage bill, which will cost the tax payer as much as $3.27 trillion when all is said and done, is basically new printed cash. Europe is feeling serious pain. We will soon too. And people that are hoping onto ride the gravy train, like this moron that wanted some unemployment handouts, and hoping to shaft the people that the democrats are now going to milk dry to keep their power. I expect more and more news about how bad and destructive this bill is to come out as more and more people get to take a real look at it. The damage is done, but we still should try our best to stop this from getting on.
UPDATE: There are some people that keep hammering how this collectivist crap sandwich that masquerades as a stimulus bill but is really a patronage bill will work, because they have faith in their PC ideology and marxist wealth redistribution schemes. Just look at western Europe! They have embraced this collectivist pap for decades now, and things are better there than here. That’s all lies. Europe is about to get hammered. Don’t take my word for it. And the primary reason for this is that the US economy took a tumble. With our economy no longer producing wealth, these Europeans are about to see the gravy train derail. Collectivism in Europe is about to collapse because American collectivists have shut down the American capitalist wealth generation engine.

Fascism? We are now going to get it for real…
Take a gander to Pajama Media and look at this sordid and sad truth. The left was always telling us that president Bush was a fascist because he supposedly opposed their collectivist movement and its goals. Now one can argue these leftists are not even bright enough to realize fascism is a form of collectivism, socialism actually, and that Bush was, for all intents and purposes, himself a big government socialist. He was however no fascist as government, despite growing massively and spending like drunken sailors (apology to drunken sailors), did not grab control of the means of production while he was president. In fact, the left told us constantly that republicans and Bush where beholden to industry. Not something that happens when you are a socialist, you know. The Obama stimulus bill, which is really a patronage bill, and the other moves so far by these democrats (Census anyone?) however, are doing just that. Oh sure, government might not directly grab hold of the means of production like it did in the past, but that is no longer necessary. Because of its massive size it can totally and completely control any means of production by decree. Write a law and force business to do what you want or go down in flames.
I have always laughed at all the stupid Hollywood movies that depict right wing people destroying America and taking over the government. I have never held this idiotic illusion because it has always been clear to me that it would be the left that would do this. History has proven that over and over. From the Marxist revolution that brought us that abortion called the USSR, to China, North Korea, Cambodia, Cuba, and so on murder and oppression was made the norm in the name of making everyone equal. Then you had Mussolini and Hitler which brought us state socialism, something that is popular these days in the third world, and especially the Jew hating Middle East. The latest incarnation was the Euro-socialist state. These people like to tell you how great their solution is because government supposedly cares for them, but reality is that this scam has only worked because America bore the brunt of wealth creation that allowed these governments to act stupid with minimal consequences. Now that they no longer have that cash cow, they all see that the new direction America is taking is is going to hurt all. Yeah, the left warned us of fascism’s rise. Guess they know what they where planning to do.

Here is some change I guess..
Yeah, it now looks like since Bush is no longer president and a marxist they like is, the MSM has decided to be more truthful. So now they are admitting that Iran is building nukes, and never stopped. When Bush said so they claimed he just was being jingoistic and looking for excuses to invade. The US was the bad guy in that relationship. Now that the Iranians have bitch slapped Obama around, the left seems angry enough to admit Iran is dangerous. How noble of them. Think they will admit they where being partisan hacks when they accused Bush of making this very same news up? Not holding my breath.
The campaign of lies is starting to unravel. Now that they are in charge they can no longer say and do things that undermine security because they are the ones that will be blamed. Obama will not only keep all the practices of the Bush years, he will expand on them and do things that will make Bush look like Mother Theresa. And the very people that where up front calling America a fascist nation and equating Bush with Hitler, will be the ones now making excuses for Obama and the democrats. Wonder if Obama will have the balls to do what is needed or he will pull a Clinton and leave it for the next president to deal with?

And next..
You silence any opposition. Fairness indeed. Silence any outlet for the opposition to inform the people and then you can really control what they know. Dark times are coming. Fear it.

Why is this not top news?
I have had a ton of leftists tell me that economists where backing the stimulus bill, and then they told me Krugman did so all was well because that idiot had a Nobel price and was as confused as Stalin about how economies work, but the fact is that economists agree that this bill stimulates nothing. I find it hilarious that collectivist are so hard at work telling people this stuff will help when it is obviously a patronage bill. A big payoff to donors past & present, operatives, and lobbyists. And intended to move a ton of borrowed money in the hands of democrats right before the next elections. The only things getting stimulated by this bill are the hippies in Berzerkly and San Fran whom now see our country turned into Venezuela. And the sad thing is that the MSM is not doing its job. Get ready for the dollar to be devalued, inflation to run rampant, and government to control all aspects of our lives. We are going to make America a banana republic.
UPDATE: There is a reason that democrats want this bill passed as soon as possible. They do not want anyone to see the details. It is replete with pork, patronage, and little to no stimulus. There is a reason Lautenberg says none of them will read it. With no republicans voting for this bill it will be totally owned by democrats. When it fails they will be blamed. So by claiming not to have read it, they can later tell the American people that they had not seen the final, would have voted against it otherwise, and should not be blamed. t is CYA and the MSM is helping them do it. The left has made a lot of promises. All are false I bet. Remember Obama telling us that Caterpillar will rehire all the laid off people if his bill passes? Well the CEO of Caterpillar says Obama got him wrong. that’s code for Obama is lying and I need to cover my ass when I say he was doing that.
